Tips for Removing an Old Sticker from a Car

A sticker can be easy to put on but very hard to remove. Once a sticker gets old it can hold on to the surface that it is attached to very well and it can be impossible to peel off. Some stickers will damage a surface that it is stuck onto and even if you can remove the sticker the surface under the sticker may be discolored. Chances are that the sticker didn’t do any damage to the surface and it will be worth your while to get it off.

On a hard surface like a car bumper or a window you can soak the sticker with a wet sponge for a few minutes. Then take a plastic card like an old credit card and scrap off the sticker. A plastic card will scrap off the sticker yet it will not scratch the surface. If you have an iffy surface that you think may scratch then find a spot that you can test the plastic card on that is not visible. You can put soap on the surface to help the plastic card slide along.

You can also remove a old sticker with the use of a blow dryer. Take the blow dryer and use it to heat up the sticker. Once you have heated the sticker with the blow dryer take the plastic card and scrap off the sticker. You may still have some glue residue left behind that you can wash off with hot soapy water.

Glue residue from an old sticker can be washed off with a plastic kitchen scrubber and hot soapy water. After you have washed off the glue with the hot soapy water rinse it well and dry it with a soft clean cloth.

You can rubbing alcohol to was off the glue from a old sticker too. Just put the rubbing alcohol on a soft cloth like an old towel. Terry cloth is bumpy and it works well as removing old sticker residue. Rub the glue with the alcohol until it is gone. Then wash the spot with hot soapy water and dry it with a soft absorbent cloth.

An old sticker on a window can be scraped off with a razor but be careful that you do not cut yourself. Then wash the spot with some hot soapy water to remove the glue residue. You don’t have to worry about scratching a window as much as other surfaces so you can use a sharp metal blade to scrap off the old sticker.
