Thornside secures Aviva pet insurance deal

Thornside has been appointed by Aviva to provide and administer its new pet insurance product.

The firm, which is the pet insurance division of Capita Insurance Distribution, will be providing the service for the next three year.

Aviva says it has been working closely with Thornside to refine the new policy, which was launched on 5th November.

The insurer is confident that it will match those of current market leaders, having three levels of cover available: Gold, Silver and Platinum.

Thornside, trading as Petwise Health Insurance, currently administers more than 35 pet schemes for affinity partners, and insures approximately 300,000 dogs and cats in the UK.

Its clients include Home Retail Group, Halifax Bank, esure, RSPCA, Greenbee, AA, Asda and Debenhams.

Speaking of the Aviva deal, the firm’s managing director, David Seel, comments: “Having consulted with Aviva on their customers’ requirements, we have designed a product to meet their specific requirements.”

He adds: “Aviva is already a big name in the insurance market and we are excited about helping them establish themselves as a major name within the pet insurance sector.”
