The car industry is taking a step back into time. car makers are bringing back the cars of old with a new look. Dodge introduced the Charger and Challenger and just recently Chevrolet revived its muscle car heritage with the introduction of the 2010 Camero. Chevrolet classifies the new
camero as its Zeta Body style. It has a sleek design similar to the first generation camero (67-69). Its introduction was delayed to the decline of the economy and the depletion of resources and money. The 2010 camero is largely based off of the first gen. models. Its similarities are almost staggering if you know where to look. The new camero comes standard with a v6 as its stock option, but if you can afford it, an upgrade to the LT or LS version of the Zeta body camero is a nice touch. The newest versions can be upgraded to the Chevy LS3 6.2 L V8 for the manual and a L99 for people who like to cruise without the hassle of a stick. The only difference between the two engines is about 425 horse power in the manual version, and just about 400 in the automatic. The new camero is great, but I still like the late 60’s and early 70’s models. Chevy first started to offer the Camero on September 22, 1966 for the 67′ model and was designed as a competing model with the Mustang Pony cars that Ford offered. It came in a coupe or convertible with the 250 cubic inch motor being the smallest option and the monster 396 cubic inch motor being the biggest you could put into your car. The price of the older cars back in the day was about $4,000 for a big block engine SS model. Now the V6 model of the 2010 Camero will run you about $23,000. With all of the advances in technology over the years and seeing both the old F body cameros and the new Zeta Model cameros are both really nice cars. In my opinion the new cameros still have a lot of refining to do before I would put them in the same class as the classic muscle cars. The rims and tires of the Zeta Body style are too large to be on that size of vehicle. The people at GM still have a lot of thinking to do when they come out with the 2011 Camero. With all of that said I think that I still would rather have a classic in my garage than a new camero any time.
