Mercedes-Benz Over Dodge Sprinter Sales

The carry-everything-and-more Dodge Sprinter will henceforth be known as the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter in the U.S. and Canada. Mercedes announced that it will take over sales of the commercial van, which was previously sold as the Dodge Sprinter when Mercedes was still tied to Dodge’s parent company, Chrysler. Freightliner Sprinters will continue to be sold, as well.

The Mercedes-badged van will reach dealerships next January and be sold by the newly formed Daimler Vans USA. The Dodge Sprinter, which is available in a range of configurations, had sold 130,000 units since its 2001 debut on our shores. The three-pointed-star vans will likely kill the cottage industry that has formed to sell M-B grilles and trim to U.S. Dodge and Freightliner van customers.
