Tata Motors produces three models of the Nano; the Standard, the Cx and the Lx. The Standard is a no-frills, well built car for those who want basic transportation at the lowest possible cost. The Cx and the Lx are equipped with air conditioning but only the Lx has power windows and central locking. Tata didn’t sacrifice on quality, either. The Nano is a good, solid car made with superior materials and the best engineering Tata Motors could buy. Bosch, the respected German manufacturer of tools and technology, makes the fuel injection, brakes, Value Motronic ECU and ABS. Actually, the only thing that the Nano is missing is a big price tag.

Like the VW of old, the Nano has a rear mounted engine that is air cooled. This is accomplished by scoops placed on either side of the car. The 2 cylinder, all aluminum 624cc engine has 33 HP and goes from 0-43 in 14 seconds. The top speed for this little gem is 75 MPH. It travels on 12 inch wheels, has 7.1 inches of ground clearance and 5.3 cubic feet of trunk space. Nano’s rear wheel drive and a 4 speed manual transmission complete this brilliant little car that gets 51 MPG city and 71 MPG highway.
