Towing a Jeep Wrangler. There are two ways to tow a Jeep Wrangler safely. One is to rent or purchase a vehicle dolly. A dolly is a short trailer with an axle about 8 feet behind the hitch. It has provisions for the front tires to fit in above the axle where they are secured. This is the best method. The second is to use a tow bar. This is a set of bars shaped like a V with the hitch at the point of the V. This towing device requires a set of eyelets to be installed on the towed vehicle to which the tow bars are attached. All four wheels are on the ground and the steering wheel must be strapped so it cannot turn.Tools required:
Set of wrenches
Common screwdriver
Belt or something to support the driveshaft
Two blocks of woodPut the blocks of wood in the front and rear of one of the tires. Put the Jeep in neutral.Remove the drive shaft at the rear yoke using a wrench. Use a common screwdriver to hold the shaft from turning while you are removing the bolts to take the driveshaft out.Support the driveshaft by tying it to the exhaust or frame using the belt or other suitable method to make it secure.Push the Jeep up onto the tow dolly. Place the straps over the front wheels and hook them to the dolly. Tighten the straps until they are tight and secure.Place the magnetic tail lights on the rear of the vehicle and plug the electrical connector into the tow vehicle trailer light connector.
