How to Make a Rear View Mirror
Check out what is behind you just by tilting your head a bit. This is a tutorial about how you can build your own personal rear view mirror. You can mount this on your favorite head gear or on your shades and you will be able to see behind easily. You will need the following: 1. A bottle cap 2. An acrylic mirror 3. A bike spoke 4. Jewelry glue 5. A saw
6. A drill press. You do not have to buy this. Remove the drill bit from the hole saw and mount the hole saw on the drill press with your mirror. Take care not to damage the mirror. Cut the mirror into the shape we want and then punch it out of the hole saw before it gets too solidified. The next thing we will do is to make a hole in the bottle cap to receive the spoke. Put the cap in a clamp or a vice. Then drill a hole in the cap. The hole you make should fit snuggly on the spoke.Put the spoke into your newly drilled cap. Take care when doing this to ensure that the cap on the spoke is in the orientation that you want the final mirror to be in. Put the nipple on the spoke.Next you will want to fix the mirror in the cap. Put a drop of glue in the cap and fix the mirror in with care. Try not to smudge the surface of the mirror with the glue. Make sure that the mirror is in the exact orientation that you want it before the glue sets. Give the glue about 24 hours to fully dry.Bend the spoke near the mirror and cap so that the spoke forms a sort of L shape. Then bend the spoke into loops every 2cm or so. You should use a pair of pliers for this part. The loops are going to help the beer view mirror to fit in your helmet. Instead of just gluing you new beer view mirror directly on the helmet use the method below.Decide the best place on the helmet to place the beer view mirror. You can put on the helmet and hold the mirror against the helmet making sure that you can easily see behind you with a slight tilt of the head. Use a sharp pencil to mark on the helmet where the holes for the loops should be. Make the holes and then push the beer mirrors loops in. You can add more security by now applying the glue to fix the mirror more firmly. You are ready to use your new beer view mirror. Have fun!
