Great Journeys Start with the Honda Odyssey

Minivans are the modern version of the old family station wagon but are much more comfortable than those vehicles used to be. They were originally intended to haul large families but have been redesigned in the past decade so that you can haul cargo, too. The Honda Odyssey has consistently received rave reviews and been ranked #1 in minivans by US News and World Report more than any other. This third generation of the Odyssey is the top
minivan currently available, making a strong showing in comparison test with consumers and is usually their top choice. The Odyssey comes in four trims; the LX, EX, EX-L and the Touring models. The basic LX carries seven passengers, has power accessories, cruise and stability control, a CD player and side curtain airbags. The EX adds an extra passenger seat, a power driver’s seat, in-floor storage, second row sunshades, power sliding doors and a six-disc CD changer. The more luxurious EX-L treats you to heated leather seats, a sunroof and a power tailgate. The top of the line Touring model gives you lots of luxury items including triple zone climate control, power adjustable pedals, parking sensors, run-flat tires and tire pressure monitoring. The driver’s seat of the Touring trim is equipped with memory for the convenience of multiple drivers. Options for the EX-L and Touring models include a rear entertainment system and a navigation system. Comfort isn’t the only thing that sets Odyssey apart from the average minivan, though. It has a 255 horsepower, 3.5 liter V-6 engine with a 5 speed automatic transmission. The EX-L and Touring models have Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) which shuts off 3 of the 6 cylinders during cruising and deceleration for the sake of fuel efficiency. It switches back so seamlessly for acceleration that you never know it’s there. You have plenty of power for daily runs and ample power for climbing hills and passing. The driving is responsive and not numb as is typical of most minivans. The ride is smooth and the V-6 gets 16/23 mpg while the VCM will yield 17/25 mpg, all on regular fuel.
