Fortis celebrates shortlisted apprentice scheme

Fortis Insurance is celebrating the success of its first ever apprentice programme that has seen twenty-one graduates finish the City & Guilds Level 2 programme.

The scheme has been shortlisted by the Insurance Times Awards in the training Programme of the Year category, with the ceremony itself to be held in December.

Claims Director Rob Smale presented the graduates with certificates upon their completion of the scheme and each received a reward of Ј100 from the firm to reflect their success.

HR Director Lyn Nicholls has expressed the firm’s delight at both the apprenticeship programme itself and the positive feedback that has been received about it.

Developing employees has benefits for both the individual concerned and the business itself, and is particularly helpful given the increasing unemployment the UK has seen as the recession progresses.

Recently unemployment increased by 210,000 to stand at 2.47m, the highest level since 1995.
