Cell Phone Use While Driving
Please Don’t Drive While Using the Cell PhoneWhen it comes to driving a vehicle, large or small, please don’t use your cell phone. While driving a car, truck, motorcycle, etc. it is important to get from point A to point B safely.
Driving a vehicle is tough without added distractions. The use of a cell phone may be needed, but it’s not worth the trouble should a road emergency happen in a split second. Accidents can happen in those precious seconds, your conversation can wait until you arrive at a safe location, not while rolling down the road. One of the biggest pet peeves I have is watching people drive a car or truck with a cell phone at their ear. When a person has the cell phone to their ear, they forget all about the drivers on their left or right. Tunnel vision is dangerous, and this is what happens. When a person focuses on whats being said and not what they’re doing, while driving, old Mr. Murphy steps in to change lives. Six states have laws against driving while using a cell phone. When an accident happens, a person can think of several excuses, but they really never work. If you’re involved in an auto accident, there is no excuse for those injuries to some one or yourself. There is no excuse for not paying attention to what your doing, if your focusing on this task alone. If you have to use your cell phone while driving, pull over in a safe location and complete the call. Should you wish to be safe on the road, another idea is to have a headset or blue tooth ear piece. Through the use of these other ways to complete your conversation, you could avoid the possibility of an accident. Any accident can be avoided. Don’t be a statistic when comes to your safety. Accidents on your driving record increases your insurance premium. Is it really important to make a phone call while your driving? Not if it can cost you in the long run. It can cost you in insurance, family, friends, etc. Don’t take that chance. You may be a good driver but that won’t assist you, should it cause bodily injury or death. But please don’t try to text a person with your cell phone. When sending a text message, drivers can drive blindly for 4.6 seconds over a span of six seconds. During those 4.6 seconds at 55 mph, drivers travel the length of a football field (100 yards). In that time an accident can happen. In a research project conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in 2006. Their research showed nearly 80 percent of crashes and 65 percent of near-crashes involved some form of driver inattention within three seconds before a crash.
