In what has been a flurry of news from the German automaker over the past week, Audi has today announced pricing for its 2010 S4 sedan and A5/S5 Cabriolet models. All three models will reach your local Audi dealer this fall.

The updated S4 in clutch-and-stick guise will start at $46,725 - a slight drop from the $49,385 that the outgoing 2008 model commanded. Adding the S tronic automated gearbox bumps the price to $48,125. While the new S4 no longer comes with the 340-hp 4.2-liter V-8 we were so fond of, it’s been replaced with a torquey supercharged V-6 that delivers 333 hp. Audi claims the new engine is good for a 0-60 time of around 4.9 seconds - some 0.4 second quicker than the V-8 of yore. And the new motor is also good for a significant increase in fuel economy, with an EPA estimated 18 city/27 highway mpg versus 13/20 mpg for the old car. Bottom line: the new S4 is cheaper, quicker, and burns less fuel.

Sunlight-lovers can pick the new-for-2010 A5 and S5 Cabriolets for $42,825 and $59,075, respectively. Adding Quattro all-wheel drive to the A5 droptop will cost you another $2100. Both convertibles, which replace the A4 and S4 Cabriolets, feature a cloth roof that reportedly folds in just 15 seconds at up to 30 mph.

All three cars receive Audi’s latest MMI navigation interface with real-time traffic updates. The navigation system in the S4 responds to voice commands like, “I’m hungry” or “I need gas.” A torque-vectoring rear differential is also optional for the S4 and S5.
