Amlin partners ERC in European club rugby deal

Amlin has entered into an initial three-year partnership with ERC, the body that organises European club rugby’s two cross-border tournaments.

Under the agreement, the Lloyd’s of London insurer will support the growth and development of elite European Club rugby across Europe, becoming a Premium Partner to the Heineken Cup and the new Title Partner of the European Challenge Cup.

ERC has said it is delighted to welcome Amlin into its family of partners and will immediately rebrand the European Challenge Cup across Europe and beyond as the Amlin Challenge Cup.

For its part, Amlin hopes the agreement will enhance the profiles of the competitions, which are to be complemented by the launch of a new Amlin Challenge Cup format.

The insurer’s chief executive, Charles Philipps, says: “We are extremely proud to announce this partnership with ERC which supports our strategy for European growth over the coming years.”

He adds: “As leaders in our respective fields, a partnership between Amlin and ERC is an excellent fit and we look forward to working collaboratively for the benefit of European rugby and to the enjoyment of our brokers and clients.”
